Spokane pharmacist charged with faking prescriptions, taking drugs for her own use

SPOKANE, Wash – A Spokane pharmacist faces federal charges that she made up prescriptions, then took the drugs for herself.

Federal prosecutors charged Sandra Bang with acquiring or obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception or subterfuge.

It’s a crime that carries a penalty of up to four years in prison.

The information filed in federal court says Bang “[used] her position as a pharmacist to create fake customers and fraudulent prescriptions to obtain and acquire Buprenorphine, Alprazolam and Zolpidem for her own use.”

Related paperwork filed by the Washington Department of Health says Bang worked at Yokes Pharmacy in Spokane and that these actions took place between June 2022 and December 2024.

The state suspended Bang’s license in 2025.
