SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane and Spokane Valley deputies have arrested a 10-time convicted felon and stabbing suspect.

On Feb. 29, at around 2:30 a.m., Spokane Valley and Spokane County deputies responded to a report of a stabbing in the 12400 block of East Valleyway.

The suspect was later identified as 31-year-old David R. Yeager had quickly left soon after the stabbing assault.

Deputies then interviewed the victim of the stabbing and found out that Yeager entered the victim’s room, mumbled something and then suddenly started assaulting the victim. The victim was punched and stabbed several times. Police were able to provide medical treatment and transported the victim to the hospital for additional care.

Deputies also learned the victim was allowing Yeager to stay at his home for the last week and a half because Yeager needed a place to stay.

Later on the same day at around 12:20 p.m., Spokane Valley deputies responded to a report a suspicious male in the 700 block of North Argonne Road.

The caller stated the male was walking around with blood all over his face, carrying a knife. It was also reported that the male, later determined to be Yeager, approached a mail carrier and dropped the knife before picking back up and running away.

Deputies then converged in that area with Yeager still holding the knife despite officers telling him to drop it.

Yeager continued to ignore deputies as he walked toward several occupied homes. He then stopped and held the knife vertically, with the blade up. Yeager was still ordered to drop the knife several times, but he chose to ignore the deputies.

Deputies then tasered him twice but attempts were ineffective after a few seconds Yeager dropped his knife and surrendered to police. While being arrested, police found a crystalline substance in his pocket believed to be meth.

Yeager was arrested for First Degree Assault and is also potentially facing charges of Obstructing Law Enforcement and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Yeager is now booked in Spokane County Jail.
