Spokane County Sheriff’s Office seize commercial-style pill press after months long investigation

SPOKANE, Wash. – After a months-long investigation, the Regional Street Crimes Unit (ReSCU) searched multiple homes and seized a commercial pill press, firearms and a large amount of drugs.

ReSCU obtained multiple search warrants last week for different locations in Spokane County.

With help from Spokane Police SWAT, Special Investigations Unit and Homeland Security, ReSCU obtained two pill presses, a large amount of assorted drugs and weapons during the search.

Investigators say that one pill press was commercial-style and is the first known press of this size seized in connection to illegal drug distribution in the Eastern District of Washington.

This press is believed to have the capacity to produce approximately 17,000 illicit and potentially deadly pills per hour. The second press was smaller but could have the capacity to produce about 2,000-3,000 pills per hour.

Due to the large amount of harmful substances located, the Washington State Department of Ecology was called to assist in the investigation.

In addition to the pill presses, authorities seized:

15 firearms, including some suppressed and full-auto with high-cap magazinesSuppressors, switches to convert semi-automatic guns to full-automatic weapons and pistol braces/bump socksOver $57,000 in cashabout 446 grams of methamphetamine2,057 grams of powder, presumed to be fentanyl660 grams of heroin206 grams of cocainethree additional kilogram-sized packages that have been tested and showed a presumptive positive result for fentanylJewelry and watchesUSB-style bitcoin walletGold and silver items

Following these searches, two suspects were arrested.

43-year-old Timothy Maddox has been charged with assault in the first and second degree, unlawful possession of a firearm and drive-by shooting as a result of an unreleased investigation.

35-year-old Nicholas Adams was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and/or manufacture.

This investigation is ongoing; additional arrests and charges, including potential federal charges, are expected. Information will be updated as more is released.
