Spokane County Sheriff’s Office continues to warn against scam calls

0

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is continuing to receive reports of scam calls that impersonate local officers.

SCSO stated that the scammers were identifying themselves as Lt. Perry and Lt. James Perry with the Spokane County Civil Unit or the Spokane County Civil Service.

There have also been similar incidents reported throughout the northwest including Coeur d’Alene and Kootenai County.

The sheriff’s office said that they do not have anyone with these names working for SCSO and that there have been other scam calls involving other local, state and federal agencies.

SCSO states that if the call you received is a scam, look up the phone number and call the agency directly using that phone number, not the number the scammer provided.

If the scammer is asking you to provide payment, personal or banking information, then it’s a scam.

If you receive one of these automated messages or text alerts, please contact Crime Check at: 509-456-2233 to file a report or can contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/?pid=A. These reports will be used to track the scam.
