SPOKANE, Wash. — As council member Betsy Wilkerson has been elected for City Council President, they will now be accepting applications to fill the vacancy representing District 2, Position 2.
Here are the timeline for City Council to find a replacement:
Dec. 8: Opening of the application period. Applications will be available on the City’s website, 7th floor of City Hall and at the MySpokane service desk located on the 1st floor of City Hall. Jan. 5: Applications for appointment to the vacant Council position must be received by the City Clerk’s office no later than 5 p.m.The interview process will continue through Jan. 18.City Council will fill the vacant position on Jan. 22.
Applicants for this Council seat must have lived in City Council District 2 since at least January 22, 2024. If appointed to this Council seat, they will have to serve approximately three months, serving until the current election for the position is certified.
