SPOKANE, Wash. — Travelers passing through Spokane International Airport will find new local dining options as three businesses have opened their doors since the start of the year.
Meltz Extreme Grilled Cheese opened near the C gates in early March, followed by Thomas Hammer Coffee in the A and B concourses a month ago. Method Juice Cafe became the latest addition when it opened last week.
The new businesses represent part of a broader initiative by the airport and its master concessionaire, SSP America, to provide more local options for travelers.
“If you are a traveler and you are coming to Spokane, one of the first things you get is a taste of Spokane, and I think it sets such an energy for your visit,” said Thomas Hammer, owner of Thomas Hammer Coffee Roasters.
For Method Juice Cafe owner Alicia Newman, opening at the airport marks a significant milestone.
“It is a dream come true. It is wild to see it finally happen. It has been busy for the first week, and we are just really excited,” Newman said.
The restaurant additions stem from the Spokane Airport’s contract with SSP America, which manages concessions at the facility. The partnership aims to transform the airport’s dining landscape by featuring businesses that reflect the local community.
More local establishments will join the airport lineup in the future. The airport says Jack and Dan’s and Iron Goat Brewing are expected to open in the coming months. The Yards Bruncheon, Shelby’s Burgers, and Indaba are also expected to open soon.
Airport officials view these businesses as an important first impression for visitors to the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene region.
