RICHLAND, Wash. – A Richland man is in federal prison after he pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl that resulted in a death.

Ron Montgomery, 43, was found responsible for selling fentanyl to a man who overdosed in July 2018. When looking through severance video, investigators found Montgomery took “hundreds of quick visits” to the man’s home. Police issued a search warrant of Montgomery’s residence and found an abundance of fentanyl-laced pills, firearms and other evidence of distribution.

“Fentanyl is the deadliest drug threat facing our great nation. The sentence imposed sends a stern warning to those who may seek to distribute this poison in our community that they will face significant consequences,” said the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, Vanessa Waldref.

Montgomery has been sentenced to 51 months in federal custody, followed by five years of supervised release.
