COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Looking for a unique way to start the new year, well the 2024 Polar Plunge is here to bring a chilly start!
This annual polar plunge into Lake Coeur d’Alene happens every year. Hundreds of people gather around the lake, build up their courage and run into the cold water!
It has been a tradition in Coeur d’Alene since the 1970s!
Many people view this tradition differently. Some view it as a way to cleanse off their hangovers from the year (night) before and others see it as a fun tradition to start the year off strong.
Even one local family at the event is planning to take graduation pictures as they plunge into Lake Coeur d’Alene.
If you are planning on participating this year, remember that your plunge will not count unless you are entirely submerged underwater.
