Pursuit leads to a hit-and-run suspect being arrested in Latah County

LATAH COUNTY, Idaho – The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office arrested a hit-and-run suspect after they tried to elude deputies.

On March 18, around 9:54 a.m. Nez Perce deputies received a report of a hit-and-run in Latah County involving a truck.

The driver, Letha Spiry a 57-year-old from Buckley, Wash. continued to drive into Nez Perce on Highway 3.

Deputies from Nez Perce and Idaho State Police attempted to stop Spiry near the Interchange of Highway 3 and Highway 12.

But Spiry continued to drive west which was deemed a “danger to the public” by the deputies.

Spike strips were set up on Highway 12, Spiry’s car tires were damaged from the spikes but she continued to drive. Deputies then pinned her vehicle and arrested her.

No injuries were reported.

Spiry was booked into the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center for felony eluding and misdemeanor driving under the influence.

The Idaho State Police are investigating the original hit-and-run collision.
