POST FALLS, Idaho – A Post Falls woman is in felony prison after driving under the influence and possessing Fentanyl.

Kaitlin Rae Derby, 27, crashed into a motorcycle on May 29, injuring the motorcyclist. Derby admitted she was on her phone during the crash, but officers believed she was intoxicated.

A blood sample collected from Derby showed she had Fentanyl, amphetamine, and methamphetamine in her system at the time of the crash. Upon searching Derby’s vehicle, investigators found multiple fentanyl pills.

This wasn’t her first run-in with the law. In 2015 and 2019, Derby was convicted of felony possession of a controlled substance and was still on felony probation at the time of the crash.

Derby has been sentenced to 10 years in prison with parole eligibility after three years for aggravated DUI and five years in prison with parole eligibility after three years for possession of Fentanyl.
