SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – The Spokane Fire Department (SVPD) and Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) will receive more than 1,000 “Paw Patrol” stuffed animals.

These stuffed animal donations aim to help comfort local children during times of crisis. The stuffed animals are being presented by the Spokane Valley Kiwanis Club and partners, who contributed more than $8,000 to purchase the toys as part of their annual community service project.

“We are so thankful for our partners and major contributors who help expand the effort which includes Modern Drywall, Blake Bledsoe Family, Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU), Boeing Employee’s Credit Union (BECU), and the individual members of the Spokane Valley Kiwanis Club,” said Spokane Valley Kiwanis Club President Ben Wick. “Last year we were able to donate 300 stuffed animals and the police department went through their portion in four weeks showing us how large the true need is.”

The 1,080 newly purchased and individually wrapped stuffed animals will be split between SVFD and SVPD, to be placed in emergency vehicles responding to calls for service.

The presentation to both Spokane Valley Fire and Spokane Valley Police will take place at the Spokane Valley Police Precinct which is at 12710 East Sprague Avenue at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 25.

“Paw Patrol can play an essential role in comforting those who have been traumatized,” said Spokane Valley Fire Department Fire Chief Frank Soto Jr. “It doesn’t matter if you’re young or old, sometimes something so simple can provide a momentary break from the distress someone is experiencing.”
