Man banned from Spokane Valley store arrested for stealing liquor and chips

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A man previously trespassed was arrested after stealing alcohol and food and consuming it inside a store bathroom in Spokane Valley.

On Jan. 10, store security observed James A. Lycett entering the store bathroom with an open case of White Claw which was confiscated by them.

This was Lycett’s second trip to the store bathroom that night, after employees spotted him taking a case of Jack Daniels/Coke and chips previously.

The store contacted Spokane Valley Police Department reporting the incident.

Upon arriving police discovered 6 empty cans of Jack Daniels/ Coke scattered in the bathroom stall, as well as an open bag of chips in the trash can.

After officers detained Lycett, they discovered an active felony warrant from the Washington Department of Corrections.

Along with the felony, officers discovered Lycett had been trespassed from the store in April of 2023.

Lycett was booked into jail for felony burglary and his warrant. He remains in jail with a $1,500 bond.
