OTHELLO, Wash. – A threat on social media prompted a lockdown at Othello High School on Tuesday.
According to the Othello Police Department (OPD), the Spokane-based FBI office provided information on a social media threat from a student. The report contained a photo inside the school’s main gym reading “im shooting up the school today”.
Officers quickly responded and the school was placed into a lockdown. OPD said the student was quickly identified and removed from the school.
OPD said there was no immediate threat found, and a firearm was not located.
“The Othello School District worked closely with investigators ensuring the safety of everyone, this may include expulsion from school. A report will be written regarding this event and reviewed by the appropriate agencies for any criminal charges,” OPD said.
