SPOKANE, Wash. – One person had to evacuate their home Thanksgiving afternoon after a kitchen fire broke into flames.

Around 3 p.m. on Nov. 23, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) responded to reports of a house fire where someone was allegedly injured. When SFD arrived, they saw smoke coming from the back of the house.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and following a search of the home, SFD found no one inside. The only person inside evacuated and did not require any medical attention.

SFD said the investigation showed unattended food on the stove that had ignited and filled the house with thick smoke.

This fire remains under investigation.
