One person injured in Orondo after brake drum flies off semi, hits car

ORONDO, Wash. – Orondo firefighters responded to a car crash on U.S.-97, which injured one person when a broken brake drum flew off a semi-truck and hit a car.

Orondo Fire responded at 3:30 p.m., April 13, Friday afternoon to an car crash report on U.S.-97 just south of the Beebe Bridge. The first arriving units found a damaged pickup with one injured driver.

Firefighters say the truck was traveling southbound on U.S.-97 when a broken brake drum flew off a semi and hit the pickup’s windshield, which hit the driver.

The driver was treated at the scene and transported to Lake Chelan Health Emergency Department.

The Washinton State Patrol is investigating.
