‘Nose to Toes’ program provides basic medical care for pets of homebound seniors

SPOKANE, Wash. — To help seniors in the community, SpokAnimal and Meals on Wheels Spokane have joined forces to create the “Nose to Toes” program to provide basic medical care for pets.

Many seniors that receive help from Meals on Wheels Spokane are homebound and are not able to bring their pets in for regular wellness exams.

To help these seniors and their pets, SpokAnimal will be traveling with Meals on Wheels volunteers to provide basic medical care for these animals. This includes nail trims, microchipping, wellness exams and other essential services for the pets.

This service also creates a familiar setting for the pets and pet owners as vets conduct full wellness exams!

Meals on Wheels Spokane is a program that has been delivering hot and ready meals to elderly, homebound seniors since 1967. With the help of volunteers they are able to serve 600 meals daily to the community of Spokane.

If you would like to help, they are always looking for volunteers! To check the volunteer requirements and fill out an application, go to their website.

If you would like to donate to this program, go to the Meals on Wheels Spokane website.
