SPOKANE, Wash. — A motorcyclist who crashed near the intersection of Queen Avenue and Julia Street on Tuesday died from his injuries in the hospital.

A spokesperson for the Spokane Police Department said the man, who has yet to be identified by the medical examiner’s office, died despite the efforts of medics at the scene and in the hospital.

The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to police, a neighbor saw the biker’s motorcycle sliding down the road before seeing the man down on the ground a way up the road, with what the witness believed were severe traumatic injuries.

Investigators found the motorcyclist was riding north on Rebecca Street as the road turns near Queen when he lost control.

Officers also learned the motorcyclist the man was riding had been reported stolen.

Neighbors near the intersection on Rebecca Street expressed concerns about what they described as a chronic speeding problem in the area.

“My kids are not allowed out of my yard,” one woman said. “Two years ago, two guys were racing and took out my car… and so, my kids aren’t allowed to come outside unless they’re in the yard.”

That neighbor added that her family is looking to move out of the area over the concern.
