CHENEY, Wash. — A Moses Lake man died in a crash on I-90 in west Spokane County Thursday morning.

The Washington State Patrol said in a release that 30-year-old Roy Diamond died while he was being taken to the hospital.

In a release, the patrol said Diamond was driving eastbound on I-90 near the Four Lakes exit when he crossed over the median and collided head-on with another car.

The driver of the second car, 54-year-old Brian Bomengen of Spokane Valley, was taken to the hospital.

Both drivers wore their seatbelts, according to the patrol, and both vehicles were totaled.

Washington State Patrol investigators are looking into what caused Diamond to cross over the median, but they don’t suspect drugs or alcohol were involved

Westbound lanes of I-90 were closed for nearly three hours early Thursday morning, before ultimately opening fully at about 10 a.m.
