MOSCOW, Idaho — A Moscow Police Department Captain has just graduated as a member of the 288th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Anthony Dahlinger was hired by the Moscow Police Department in 2011 as a patrol officer and has been promoted to Corporal, Sergeant and now Captain. He has also worked as a breath testing specialist, emergency vehicle operations instructor and detective.

Fewer than 1% of officers have the opportunity to attend the FBI National Academy. The National Academy offers 10 weeks of, “advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend.”

Dahlinger graduated with the 288th session which had 198 graduating law enforcement officers. The class included law enforcement agencies from 24 countries, four military organizations and six federal civilian organizations.

With Dahlinger’s success, Chief Fry said:

“Captain Anthony Dahlinger attended Session 288 of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy. This 10-week leadership academy is a coveted training opportunity amongst police command-level officers. The FBINAA helps prepare command officers to lead their department, their city, and their community with professionalism and knowledge. During his time at the Academy, Captain Dahlinger earned 18 graduate-level credits through the University of Virginia and was entrenched in an environment of leadership education. I am proud of Captain Dahlinger for seeking out this excellent learning opportunity, which I was fortunate to attend in 2019. The Moscow Police Department has a rich history of sending command officers through this once-in-a-lifetime training. We appreciate the City of Moscow’s continued support of command officers by allowing them to attend this prestigious leadership opportunity provided by the FBI National Academy.”
