SPRAGUE, Wash. — The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that a 26-year-old woman found dead in Sprague died of hypothermia complicated by methamphetamine intoxication.
Aspen Valdez was discovered March 3 in a backyard on a Sprague property after a resident called first responders around 10 a.m. to report finding a body, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies identified the woman as Valdez, who had been reported missing Feb. 26. Investigators received the autopsy report April 13, which ruled the cause of death as hypothermia in the setting of methamphetamine intoxication.
According to investigators, Valdez had exited a family vehicle near Sprague and told relatives she intended to travel to Spokane on foot before she went missing.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said no additional comments will be made regarding the case.
