Man shot by police at Shadle Park High School, expected to recover

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Independent Investigation Response (SIIR) Team is investigating a police shooting that occurred Thursday night in Spokane and said that the suspect who was shot by police is expected to recover.

Spokane Police Department (SPD) officers contacted a man at 6:14 p.m. near Shadle Park High School. The man fled on foot through the school’s track during the contact. Officers followed, and an altercation occurred, resulting in three SPD officers utilizing lethal use of force.

The SIIR Team says the suspect was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

None of the involved officers sustained injuries.
