New Spokane Valley coffee stand supports struggling local families

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA. — Helping provide food, clothes or even Christmas presents for local families that may otherwise go without will soon be as easy as pulling up to the Blessed Drive-Thru Coffee window in the Spokane Valley.

“I had a dream 10 years ago to have a place called ‘Blessed,’ and 100 percent of all proceeds from cater events, the coffee window, and any in-house events will all go back to the community,” said Jessica Kovac.

Helping homeless and struggling people in our community is nothing new to Kovac. She’s been helping put food in the bellies of our hungry neighbors since founding her non-profit, now called “Blessings and Beyond,” 16 years ago.

“We want to be an answer to someone’s prayer,” Kovac said. “Of course people need help with food and rent but we want to go beyond that and do things special and unique, like (help) families who can’t afford Christmas or they need a car.”

Kovac said her nonprofit moved to the Spokane Valley building off Mansfield in May of 2023, and currently use the kitchen inside the building to prepare 1,200 meals for people living in the Trent Shelter.

“Five days a week, 1,200 meals a day…they are going to the shelter on Trent,” Kovac said. “We want to reach everybody, youth, families, survivors, people that have fallen on hardships.”

Kovac said the Blessed coffee drive thru will have a soft opening in the coming weeks, and a grand opening is planned for the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 24. She said that grand opening event will invite guests to sample the custom ‘Blessings’ 4 Seasons Coffee Roasters blend, pastries, sandwiches, and more.

Kovac hopes you’ll leave feeling blessed, and like your time there blessed someone else.

“A place where people know what we stand for, and they leave here feeling blessed,” Kovac said. “They’ve tasted the blessings, they’ve drank the blessings, they’ve felt the blessings.”
