HAYDEN, Idaho — A Coeur d’Alene man was arrested Thursday on vehicular homicide and aggravated driving under the influence charges after his truck crashed into an apartment building, killing an elderly man and critically injuring an elderly woman.
Dillon W. Henderson, 41, was taken into custody by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office on May 28, two days after the fatal crash in the 8700 block of N. Avalanche Road in Hayden.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on May 26, when Henderson’s truck crashed into a ground-level apartment unit.
Deputies found two elderly residents trapped beneath the vehicle. An elderly male was pronounced dead at the scene, while an elderly female was transported to Kootenai Health with life-threatening injuries.
This marks Henderson’s 48th booking into the Kootenai County Jail. Henderson had been released from Idaho State Prison just one day before the fatal crash.
The investigation is being handled by the KCSO Traffic Team.
