LEWISTON, Idaho. – A man has been arrested on multiple charges after severely beating a woman and holding her hostage in her own home.

On Oct. 8, at 10:56 a.m., an officer with the Lewiston Police Department (LPD) responded to reports of someone getting beat near the 600 block of 24th Street. The caller claimed the victim was bleeding profusely and refusing medical attention.

When officers arrived on the scene, they saw the victim covered in blood with a dark bruise on her left eye that was swelling shut. The victim had a bandage on her arm that was also soaked in blood.

When asked who did this to her and what happened, the victim named Erick Dawson as the suspect, according to LPD. LPD confirmed there is a civil protection order between the victim and Dawson.

Court documents show the victim returned home from work when Dawson showed up asking for his keys. The victim said she gave him the keys and went to bed when, around 4 a.m., Dawson became aggressive, accusing her of stealing his keys.

The victim said she tried to escape the situation by punching a window and attempting to climb out. That’s when Dawson pulled her back in and “began repeatedly punching her face,” according to court documents.

Dawson was arrested at his home on Oct. 9. He is being charged with felony stalking in the first degree, aggravated battery and kidnapping.
