SPOKANE, Wash. – A second suspect accused of assaulting a Spokane police officer during a fight that led to a deadly shooting at Walmart on Sunday has been identified and arrested.

On Dec. 3, the initial suspect, 34-year-old Kerry Jones-Hilburg, was shot by Spokane Police Officer Karl Richardson during a fight that started inside the Walmart on north Colton. A video of the altercation shows officers tasing Jones-Hilburg before leaving the building.

Two officers were involved in the fight when a second suspect, Tylor S. Forester, 33, attacked one of the officers from behind.

According to the Spokane Independent Investigative Response Team (SIIR), Forester forcefully pushed one of the officers’ arms, causing the officer to divert his attention from Jones-Hilburg.

Witness statements and Walmart Loss Prevention employees helped identify Forester, which allowed SIIR investigators to establish probable cause to arrest Forester on charges of third-degree assault to a law enforcement officer and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

SIIR continues to investigate this incident. Anyone who witnessed it, recorded it or has information that could assist SIIR Team Investigators is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233 and reference case number 10180498.
