LEWISTON, Idaho – A Lewiston man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after he pled guilty to a 2021 double murder.

Richard B Ross, 58, of Lewiston, was accused of killing his former brother-in-law, Michael Devin and his mother, Edwina Devin, in 2021. He pled guilty to the crime two years later.

Because of his plea deal, Ross will not face the death penalty.

“I firmly believe this was an appropriate death penalty case, but ensuring the defendant is in prison for the rest of his life and eliminating countless years of appeals is definitely a win,” said Prosecutor Justin Coleman.

Ross will be sentenced on Feb. 2, 2024, to life in prison without the eligibility of parole.
