SPOKANE, Wash. – A man was arrested after taking himself on a $3000 theft spree in downtown Spokane.

Nathan L. Loveland, 34, was reported by several downtown retail stores saying he would walk in, grab handfuls of merchandise and walk out, according to the Spokane Police Department (SPD). Some stores were hit by Loveland multiple times over the last several weeks; one store reported theft several times in one day.

Surveillance video from the Nike store showed Loveland stealing, and SPD was able to find and arrest him shortly after the reported theft. SPD said in this theft spree, Loveland stole around $3,000 in Nike and North Face apparel.

Loveland was booked into the Spokane County Jail for second-degree organized theft.

“Retail theft is a crime that affects all of us. Recent reports show organized retail crime has become a major issue for retailers nationwide with Washington state ranking as the state most impacted by retail crime. SPD continues to work diligently to keep our Downtown core safe and enjoyable for all,” Julie Humphrey, Public Safety Communication Manager for SPD, said.
