Lewiston man and police officer injured in early morning crash

LEWISTON, Idaho — A Lewiston man and a Lewiston Police Department officer were injured in a crash early Sunday morning.

According to Idaho State Police, the crash happened around 1:15 a.m. near the intersection of D Street and 5th Street in Lewiston.

A 29-year-old Lewiston man was driving a black Cadillac Escalade behind a patrol vehicle driven by a 30-year-old female officer driving westbound on D Street.

The man tried to pass the patrol vehicle and struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

ISP says the intersection was closed for about six hours. The crash is still under investigation.

ISP is asking anyone who saw the Escalade before the crash to call 208-750-9300 and reference case number 2026-00051803.
