WASHINGTON, DC – The KXLY radio stations and KXLY’s parent company Morgan Murphy Media were honored Tuesday in Washington, DC with a prestigious Service to America Award.
The company was recognized for the Honor Our Fallen campaign, a community fundraising effort in the wake of the ambush of local firefighters last summer on Canfield Mountain.
Two firefighters died and one was seriously injured by a gunman who later shot himself.
With live broadcasts, community partners, and cross-platform promotion, the stations raised $36,000 in 12 hours to support the firefighters’ families and their fellow Kootenai County first responders.
The awards are presented by the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation.
The ceremony will air on KXLY later this summer.
