Kootenai County deputy, K9 locate 16 pounds of methamphetamine during traffic stop

POST FALLS, Idaho — A Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputy and K9 Appa were able to locate 16 pounds of methamphetamine inside a vehicle during a traffic stop.

On the evening of Oct. 23, a deputy began to pull a vehicle over for a minor traffic violation on I-90 near Pleasantview Road in Post Falls.

During the traffic stop, K9 Appa began to sniff around the outside of the vehicle before alerting the deputy.

Once the deputy searched the vehicle, there was approximately 16 pounds of methamphetamine inside.

Yakima residents, 22-year-old Jose Ramos and 20-year-old Guillermo Duarte were arrested and booked into Kootenai County Jail for trafficking methamphetamine.
