Idaho, Arizona governors sign executive agreement to extradite Lori Vallow

IDAHO — Governor Brad Little has signed an executive agreement to extradite Lori Vallow Daybell to Arizona on conspiracy to commit murder charges.

According to East Idaho News, Little signed the document on Monday, Oct. 23, which was also sent to Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs on Sept. 13.

Vallow is currently being held in Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center as of August when a judge sentenced her to life in prison for the murder of her two children, Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow.

After her sentencing, Vallow and an attorney filed an appeal on Aug. 31, citing 16 issues before and during the trial she and her defense believe should be given scrutiny.

On Oct. 4, an amended notice of appeal was filed, this time citing more than 30 transcripts be prepared for the clerk’s record from between May 2021 and July 2023.

Now, this current the executive agreement sign by Gov. Little says, “It is hereby agreed by the undersigned, the Governor of the State of Idaho and the Governor of the State of Arizona, that Lori Vallow … will be extradited pursuant to this agreement from the State of Idaho to the State of Arizona for trial,” the executive agreement says. “The State of Arizona may obtain custody of the said fugitive … and the said fugitive may be transferred back and forth between the State of Arizona and the State of Idaho.”

As of Wednesday, Lori Vallow Daybell remains in Pocatello, the Idaho Department of Corrections will not release her travel information when she is moved facilities.

The trial of her husband and alleged accomplice, Chad Daybell, is scheduled to begin April 1, 2024 in Ada County.
