BOISE — Scott Stokes, director of the Idaho Transportation Department, will retire June 30 after nearly 35 years of service.
Stokes was appointed director in May 2022 after serving as chief deputy for 15 years. He began his ITD career in 1991.
During his tenure, Stokes led the department through the Leading Idaho infrastructure initiative and oversaw significant funding increases.
“Director Stokes led the department during an unprecedented period of investment in Idaho’s transportation infrastructure through the Leading Idaho initiative,” Governor Brad Little said.
“His commitment to safety, stewardship of public resources and dedication to employees has made a lasting impact on ITD,” said Idaho Transportation Board Chairman Bill Moad.
Stokes said he was “most fortunate to be part of this very dedicated team who serves Idaho in transportation during a great period of growth and need.”
Governor Little will work with the Idaho Transportation Board to appoint a new director.
