A bill passed Wednesday morning in the House that threatens to ban TikTok in the United States affecting millions.

The bill that passed on a 352-65, now goes to the Senate. This could prevent Americans from using TikTok if the parent company ByteDance refuses to give up owning it.

Security concerns were raised in the passing after evidence was brought forward that that shows TikTok shared some personal user data with Chinese authorities.

ByteDance is a Bejing based company which has brought up concerns that Chinese authorities could force ByteDance to hand over personal data the app has collected on Americans.

Washington 5th District Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers has been supporting the formation of this bill and her office has been flooded with calls regarding the bill.

“When you celebrate the 150 million American users on TikTok, it emphasizes the urgency for Congress to act,” says Rodgers concerning the bill.

President Joe Biden also has recently expressed his support of the bill saying if it reaches the White House he is prepared to sign it.
