SPOKANE, Wash. – UPDATED 3/13/24 at 8 a.m.

At least one person is dead after a two-car and pedestrian crash on US-2 causing a closure in both directions.

Spokane Police and Washington State Patrol responded to the crash early Wednesday morning around 3 a.m.

The highway is closed in both directions starting near Spotted Road all the way down to Flint Road. Authorities are on scene working to divert traffic to alternative routes onto Airport Way.

Spokane Police say that one pedestrian has died after being hit by 2 different cars but have not released the name of that person.

One driver is suspected of a DUI according to police and the other driver fled the scene.

The US-2 is now open in both directions after being closed for around 5 hours after the incident.

One woman was found dead at the scene after police say she was crossing the road.

Police located both drivers after one driver left following the crash.

One woman has been taken into custody on counts of vehicular homicide. And the second driver was located after evidence lead police to him. He was arrested on felony hit and run charges.

Police remind people that a crash whether it’s your fault or not, you must stop especially when a pedestrian is involved.
