A robust cold front arrives Tuesday, bringing valley rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds.
Plan Your Tuesday
The morning will be dry, but the second half of the day will not be. Rain and mountain snow increase through Tuesday as a cold front moves into the region. Expect highs in the 40s and 50s with brisk winds gusting 30 to 40 mph. Precipitation becomes likely for most areas by Tuesday evening, with snow levels starting near 4,000 feet but dropping down to 2,000 feet overnight.
What We’re Tracking
Steady rain continues from Tuesday into the first half of Wednesday for areas south of I-90. Rain totals between 0.25 and 0.60 inches could cause minor flooding near small streams.
Falling temperatures will bring a chance for a rain and snow mix to the lowlands, including a 30 percent chance of snow for Spokane and 50% chance for Coeur d’Alene Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Snow will be heavy at times over mountain passes starting Tuesday night and travel in the mountains will become more difficult. Temperatures will dip into the 20s and 30s by Wednesday Night as cooling continues.
While conditions dry out Friday and begin to warm, another system brings more rain and mountain snow chances starting Sunday.
