What Idaho voters need to know before heading to polls today

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — Before heading out to vote in today’s primary election, officials encourage Idaho voters to prepare online and gather the proper identification to ensure a smooth voting experience.

Election officials recommend voters check their polling location before leaving home, as voting must be conducted at assigned polling places on election day. You can find your assigned location through this link.

“People can go on there (voteidaho.gov), they can search for their polling location, they can see their sample ballot. They can check to make sure they are registered. All of those things they can do before they head to the polls,” said Asa Gray, Kootenai County Elections Director.

Voters should also gather proper identification before heading out. All voters must bring a photo ID to cast their ballot.

Those who discover they are not registered can still vote by registering at their polling location. However, they will need both a valid photo ID and a document proving they live in Idaho.

Voters must update their registration if they have moved, changed their name or have not voted in the past four years. This can be done online at voteidaho.gov or at the polling place on election day.

Polls opened at 8 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. throughout Kootenai County.
