Grant County firefighters buy vital rescue equipment with $25k grant

EPHRATA, Wash. — Grant County Fire District 13 has been awarded $25,118.63 from Gesa Credit Union’s 2023 Local Heroes Grant. This grant will be used to purchase the Genesis 15C-SLI Combination Rescue Tool to help with extrications.

“Without Gesa’s generous grant, this important tool would not have been possible,” notes Chief Stucky. “We are very grateful to Gesa for this important grant program that supports dedicated First Responders,” said Chief Stucky

This grant is used to help increase safety and patient care for anyone in or visiting their district. It also will support the volunteers who are vital to providing service to the community.

This tool will be stored in their new Rescue 1341, which will be used for rescues, medical aid and command all incidents including wildfires and structure fires. The Genesis combination rescue tool will be on every call to offer assistance when needed!

Gesa’s Local Heroes Grant Program has provided more than $1,000,0000 to 108 organizations across Washington state. The program funds organizations that assist Local Heroes in Washington, such as firefighters, healthcare workers, law enforcement, teachers and veterans.

Grant County Fire District 13 is an all-volunteer fire department. They have a “diverse firefighter perspective to adapt to the ever-changing fire service including refurbishing apparatus, identifying unique solutions and utilizing grant funding to supplement our small budget”.

These volunteer firefighters serve about 2,285 residents in 126 square miles based out of a main station in Ephrata.
