Our weather stays breezy and cool today in the aftermath of Wednesday’s storm.
Plan Your Thursday
Expect a breezy west wind throughout the day, which will add to the springtime chill in the air. Highs today will only reach the mid-60s, which is close to average for mid-May but significantly cooler than we’ve been all month. A couple of mountain showers are possible late in the day, but the vast majority of the region will stay dry. Temperatures tonight drop into the low 40s.
What We’re Tracking
The weather pattern remains breezy and a little unsettled heading into the weekend. Scattered light rain or sprinkles are possible late Thursday evening, with more likely late in the day on Friday. A stronger push of chilly air arrives Saturday, bringing a higher chance for valley rain. People heading to the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade on Saturday night in Spokane need to be prepared for showers.
The most significant concern for gardeners arrives Sunday morning as temperatures drop to 36 degrees or lower. Frost alerts are a strong possibility over the weekend, so prepare to protect sensitive outdoor plants.
In general, temperatures will stay quite chilly through the weekend, with highs only in the 50s possible Friday through Sunday. We’ll start to warm back up towards average again in the middle of next week.
