SPOKANE, Wash. — A man suspected of driving under the influence crashed into a Spokane Transit Authority bus in northeast Spokane Wednesday night, sending multiple people to the hospital, according to the Spokane Police Department.
The crash occurred near the intersection of East Bruce Avenue and North Crestline Street when the man allegedly ran a stop sign on Bruce Avenue, causing a head-on crash with the STA bus, police said.
The driver’s passenger sustained an apparent broken leg and was transported to a local hospital, according to police. The suspect walked away from the scene with a limp but remained at the location until police arrived.
The bus driver struck their head during the impact. While paramedics determined the injuries were not life-threatening, the driver was transported to the hospital as a precaution, police said.
One passenger was aboard the bus at the time of the crash but was not injured. The passenger declined to speak with police and left the scene, according to the Spokane Police Department.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The intersection remains closed as authorities worked to clear the scene.
