SPOKANE, Wash. — Governor Jay Inslee will be stopping at multiple locations in Spokane today to meet with several members and organizations in the community.

Inslee will begin his day meeting with members of the Spokane Long-Term Recovery Group to assess the recovery efforts after the recent wildfires. He will learn about the challenges and opportunities that the agencies are facing in Spokane County.

All of this information will help enhance the states response to future emergencies.

Next, Inslee will be at Thrive International to meet with Ukrainian refugees and hear their stories about the way and its impact on their loves. He will also discuss Washington’s effort to support these individuals and advocate for additional funding to Ukraine.

At the American Planning Associations Awards and Annual Conference, Inslee will give a speech related to the efforts in providing affordable housing. In Spokane, planning is crucial in addressing housing affordability.

This will show the cities commitment to developing solutions to the housing affordability crisis, including zoning reforms, mixed-income housing developments and financial assistance programs.

Following the conference, the governor will travel to The Catalyst building, a net-zero energy building in Spokane’s Eco-District. This building highlights the potential of the Climate Commitment Act.

Inslee’s tour will finish at the YWCA Spokane facility to discuss their family justice center, the regional increase in homicides and their firearm removal program.

Governor Jay Inslee will begin his tour of Spokane today at 10:45 a.m.
