Gonzaga Men unranked for 3rd straight week in AP Top 25, Washington State not receiving votes

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Associated Press released its week 13 top 25 poll, and the Gonzaga Bulldogs remain unranked for the third week in a row and are receivingfewers votes than they were the week prior.

In the week 12 AP Poll, Gonzaga was receiving six votes; this week, they received four votes, right behind Saint Mary’s (9), Indiana St. (5), Boise St. (5), and Richmond (4).

Last week, the Zags had an impressive five-point home win over San Francisco, who was also receiving votes in the AP poll last week (1), but GU capped off the week with a narrow nine-point win over Pacific, who currently ranks 345 out of 362 teams in all of Division I college basketball on Kenpom.com. Gonzaga ranks 22nd on Kenpom with a 15-5 overall record and 6-1 in the WCC.

This week, the Bulldogs have a pair of challenging West Coast Conference matchups both in the Kennel.

On Tuesday, GU will host Loyola Marymount at 8 p.m. on ESPN. LMU holds a 10-11 overall record and is 3-4 in conference play, with a pair of losses to Saint Mary’s and losses to Santa Clara and San Francisco. This Saturday, the Zags will play their toughest conference game of the year as they host the No. 1 ranked team in the WCC, the Saint Mary’s Gaels, who are flawless in WCC play (16-6, 7-0).

Washington State

The Washington State Cougar men are still not receiving votes in the AP poll despite a pair of big wins over Utah and Colorado, who were both receiving votes in the poll last week; Utah had 20 and Colorado received one. This week, neither team had any votes in the poll.

The Cougs’ win over the Buffaloes marked their second quad-one win of the season as they finish out January with a 6-2 record, including wins over Oregon State, USC, No. 8 Arizona, Stanford, Utah, and now Colorado.

Washington State improved to 6-4 in the Pac-12 and jumped to fourth place in the conference standings.

WSU returns to the court this Saturday as they travel to Seattle to play Washington (12-9, 4-6) in game one of the Apple Cup series. That game starts at 6 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
