Get ready for a spook-tacular time in Browne’s Addition at the 7th annual Spook Walk

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Friends of Coeur d’Alene Park is hosting their 7th annual Spook Walk on Oct. 27 through 29.

The coordinators encourage those looking to buy their tickets online for a better chance to get into a tour. Each tour has about 25 people and the Spook Walk is expected to sell out with 150 people attending.

Those planning on buying tickets must be five years or older. Strollers, walkers, wheelchairs, or pets are not allowed for safety reasons.

The walk will start at the Secret Gardens between EJ Roberts Event Center and the former Browne’s Bistro.

Hot cider will be provided as guests sing pumpkin carols before wandering the historic Browne’s Addition streets while hearing spooky stories of old-timers and new-timers who still watch the passing of time from the windows of mansions and bungalows.

Spook Walk is organized by Julie Biggerstaff, Lee Williams, and MaryLou Sproul, members of The Friends of Coeur d’Alene Park.

“We always make sure to keep telling the really good stories,” said MaryLou Sproul. “If new stories come up, we add and research new mysteries for stories along the way to each stop.

Browne’s Addition homeowners get involved in the Spook Walk by decorating the outside of their houses with special decorations to add to the spooky feel.

The Spook Walk proceeds will go towards matching $900,000 for the park to put in a new playground, add electricity to the gazebo, fix the uneven paths, and install a new bathroom.

People are encouraged to dress for the weather, dress up in costumes, and bring flashlights.

After running the Spook Walk for seven years, Sproul hears stories of past sightseers who loved the tour.

We’ve been doing it long enough to where people will come up and say, ‘I did your tour, and it was fantastic.”
