Former president Donald Trump wins Washington Republican Primary

SPOKANE, Wash. – Former president Donald Trump has won the Washington State Republican Primary according to the Associated Press.

Trump, who is now the only remaining major Republican candidate in the race following former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley’s withdrawal, has secured unprecedented control over the governing mechanisms of the GOP.

On March 11, Trump loyalist Michael Whatley was installed as the Republican National Committee chair and Lara Trump became co-chair. The personnel choices cemented the 45th president’s leadership of the party ahead of his presumed nomination.

In addition to political victories, Trump also recently secured a major legal win.

On March 4, the US Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the former president will remain on general election ballots following efforts in several states to remove him from eligibility for his alleged support of the January 6 attacks.

However, Trump still faces 34 felony counts in New York and a separate civil fraud case. He was also ordered by a federal court to pay $83 million to a woman he was accused of sexually assaulting in late January.

Despite legal hurdles, Trump has sailed toward his party’s nomination, losing only Vermont and the District of Columbia.

Barring a disastrous event for the 45th president, Trump will face President Joe Biden in a rematch of the 2020 election contest.
