SPOKANE, Wash. – An apartment complex in Spokane Valley caught fire and evacuated residents early in the morning on Friday.

At 4:45 a.m. the Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) responded to reports of an apartment complex with smoke and flames on East 4th Avenue.

SVFD said three units of the complex were damaged from the fire and one additional unit was damaged from smoke and water. The apartment complex had working sprinkler systems limiting the spread of the fire.

One unit damaged in the fire was vacant, but no residents had any injuries.

Crews were able to shortly knock down the fire and said most of the damage is on the outside of the complex.
