Device rendered to safety after small home explosion in Mead

MEAD, Wash. – A device was rendered to safety after a small explosion at a home in Mead on Tuesday.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies responded to a ‘small explosion’ near East Moody Road and North Myrtle Street. SCSO confirmed they found a device on the home’s front porch and rendered it to safety.

SCSO said the device appeared homemade and was placed on the porch after a dispute between two people. There is no threat to the public.

No one was injured in this explosion, and there was no significant damage to the home.

Everyone involved in this incident has been communicated with, and no one was arrested. One of the suspects was arrested on an unrelated warrant.

This incident remains an active investigation.
