
8:00 A.M. UPDATE: A Stevens County deputy was shot during a standoff near Suncrest on Tuesday morning.
According to Stevens County dispatch, it happened during an early morning exchange between a barricaded suspect and deputies.
The shot deputy is in surgery and expected to recover.
People are asked to avoid the area of Suncrest Drive and Greenfield near Suncrest.

SUNCREST, Wash — School bus traffic is asked to stay clear of the corner of Suncrest Drive and Greenfield in near Suncrest on Tuesday morning.
The Nine Mile Falls School District put out a release at 5:15 a.m. asking buses to stay at least 1/2 mile away from the area due to a law enforcement situation.
Crime Check described the situation as “high priority”.
Parents are asked to contact transportation at (509) 388-0508 to arrange an alternative bus stop or to drive their children to school.
According to Nine Mile Falls School District Superintendent Jeff Baerwald, this was at the request of the Steven County Sheriff.
He says people in the area are also being asked to shelter in place due to a person who is armed and barricaded.
Right now, there is no recommendation to delay or cancel school because of this.
Neighbors on scene says this all started around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
