Colville Tribes ban fireworks sales and use this summer

Spokane, WASH. — The Colville Business Council made the decision to ban all fireworks sales and ignition/usage within the boundaries of the Colville Indian Reservation for the 2026 season. In a resolution, the council said the move will ‘protect Tribal lands and the safety of the membership and residents.’

The vote was 8-0.

They note in April, the Washington State Department of Ecology issued a drought declaration for all watersheds in the state due to low snowpack. They also said sales can continue in the New Year’s season.
