YAKIMA, Wash. – A Clarkston man was convicted of Attempted Enticement of a Minor in Yakima according to a press release.
U.S. Attorney Vanessa Waldref announced on Dec. 6 that a jury returned verdicts in the trial of 38-year-old David Elmo Curry, resulting in his conviction on two counts of Attempted Enticement of a Minor.
The press release said that Curry was arrested at a house in Yakima on Nov. 16, 2019, where he reportedly was going to meet a mother who was seeking money in exchange for sex with her minor children, a sting operation by the Washington State Patrol.

At the time, Curry was charged with First Degree Attempted Rape of a Child and Second Degree Attempted Rape of a Child. He was released on bail later.
After his release, a Homeland Security Investigations Task Force Officer posed as a 13-year-old girl and responded to an ad Curry put online. The press release says Curry had sexual conversations with the officer, including requesting nude images and making arrangements to meet in person.
Curry’s trial began on Dec. 4, 2023. He faces a sentence ranging from ten years to life in prison along with a minimum of five years of supervised release and sex offender registration for each count.
Curry’s sentencing is set for March 26, 2024.
The case was brought as a part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative created by the Department of Justice in 2006 to fight child sexual exploitation and abuse.
