Remedial Map 3B was approved following a lawsuit filed by UCLA VRP on behalf of Latino voters that argued the current legislative districts fractured Latino communities and hindered their ability to elect representatives of their choice.

“Today, the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed that Washington State will use a lawful map for the next general election,” said Sonni Waknin, program manager and voting rights counsel at the UCLA VRP.

According to the UCLA VRP, counties in Washington State and organizations have already begun to educate voters about their new districts in advance of the candidate filing period for the 2024 election.
