CityGuide Companion: Cool Beans Coffee – All Moved In!

0

If you’ve been up Regal on the South Hill in the past few weeks you’re sure to have noticed a rather big change to the area. Cool Beans Coffee, a staple for years on the corner of Regal and 44th, has moved locations. After being notified in August that the land the coffee business was sitting on was being turned into a gas station, owner Megan Turner had until the end of October to find a new spot for this beloved South Hill shop. Determined to stay in the area that made Cool Beans successful, Turner eventually settled on a location nearby – just across the corner, in fact! Cool Beans Coffee has now opened up kitty-corner to it’s original location (in the parking lot for the Ace Hardware shopping center), where Turner and her employees are continuing to serve up tasty beverages alongside their positive and friendly dispositions.

Amidst the chaos of moving locations, taking care of baristas and coffee fans during the down time, and setting up a new/old business, Turner was kind enough to answer a few quick questions for us about the move, the menu, and making the most of the new spot.

coolbeans2When will you be open in your new location?
We opened on Thanksgiving after being closed for almost a month.

Where exactly are you be located now?
We’re at 4408 S Regal St, Suite B – in the Ace parking lot!

Have your hours and menu stayed relatively the same after the move?
Our hours are the same:  Monday – Friday from 5:30am-6pm, Saturday and Sunday from 6:30am-6pm.
Our menu design has changed. It’s easier to follow and new prices are reflected on it.

coolbeans4Are you excited about your new location? Do you feel it is an improvement in any way over your old location?
We are very excited about our new spot! It’s got a fresh, new vibe. We took this opportunity to make some key improvements and remodeling. It’s going to make things fun and more efficient.

Do you see this move affecting your business in a positive way?
The new spot may affect our business as usual because it’s a different spot on the opposite side of the street, but we are hoping our customers make an exception for us and reroute. We think they will!

For coffee lovers visiting you for the first time, what menu item would you suggest?
I think if you go to new places and want to compare coffees, try something simple; a vanilla latte. Everyone has them and you can compare notes that way.

coolbeans5What is your personal favorite item on the menu?
My personal favorites are our Frosted Gingersnap that we created several years ago, and a dirty chai!

For non-coffee drinkers looking for warm beverages in the fall/winter, what menu item do you recommend?
For non coffee drinkers: our hot chocolate, apple cider and chai tea!
